I HOPE TO BECOME A MASTER ONE DAY!

HE decided to be a seaman as well

His father worked as a chief engineer, so he decided to be a seaman as well. Meet Serhii and read all about his career in the maritime and offshore field at TOS.

My life at sea

My life at sea started while studying at the Odessa National Maritime academy. After all the theory lessons at school, came the practical lessons: sailing! There were a few contracts on different vessels, but from the beginning I knew my dream was to work offshore. My dream became a reality when I joined the AHTS in Saudi as 3rd mate and later as 2nd mate. It was a time of hard work but also an excellent experience for me. At the end of 2016, I received a telephone call from the TOS branch office in Odessa. TOS offered me a job on a new type of vessel: ART 100-42 series Rotortug, the RT Beagle Bay. I was lucky to pass both job interviews at the TOS office and at KOTUG International the client’s office. That is when I joined the vessel at the Bayu Undan Gas Field in the Timor Sea as 2nd Officer.

AMAZING ROTORTUG

I’ve had a wonderful time working on the RT Beagle Bay. Thanks to our experienced Rotortug trainer of KOTUG International I mastered manoeuvring and keeping the position of this amazing type of tug. I enjoyed a few beautiful years working in this field with real professionals and good people. After a while, the RT Beagle Bay was replaced by RT Raven, the largest Rotortug ever built. From then on, I became a Chief Mate.

Unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 situation, the borders of Timor Leste and Australia closed, so we could not join the RT Raven again. My next opportunity at KOTUG was preparing the ASD tug SD Power for KOTUGs’ operations in Guyana. I’m thankful TOS gave me a chance to work in the offshore field with real professionals. Because of this, I have become a professional myself. For me, it is essential to work steadily in one company. It enables me to make future plans for my life. TOS fully supports me in this.

FUTURE DREAMS: BECOME A MASTER

As for my future dreams, I would like to continue growing at KOTUG and TOS and become a Master one day. Thanks a lot for this opportunity and friendly working atmosphere with all people from TOS Netherlands and the Odessa office.
