CURFEW IN THE NETHERLANDS

Update 29 April 2021: As of yesterday, the night-time curfew in the Netherlands is no longer applicable. Good news for those travelling in or to the Netherlands after 22.00 hrs.

As from Saturday 23 January at 21:00 hrs PM until Wednesday, 31 March at 4:30 hrs AM, there is a curfew in the Netherlands. The curfew is daily between 21:00 hrs PM until 4:30 hrs AM. As of Wednesday, 31 March the curfew will start one hour later at 22:00 hrs PM.

That means that no one can be outside without (emergency) reason.

  • Travellers travelling within the curfew hours from the Netherlands to any other country or within the Netherlands by plane, train, car need to carry a ‘Eigen Verklaring Avondklok’ (English translation/version: Self-Declaration Curfew) with them. There is also a Polish version available. The declaration can be filled digitally and shown on tablet or phone.  If you need to travel within the curfew hours, please fill in this self-declaration and present it when controlled;
    Additionally, if the traveller is outside due to work, he needs to carry a ‘Werkgeversverklaring avondklok’ (translation: Employer’s declaration curfew) for this, which we will provide to our crew. We will fill in the declaration digitally and sent it to our crew. The declaration can be shown on tablet or phone.
  • Travellers travelling within the curfew hours from any other country to the Netherlands by plane, train or car do not need to carry the Self Declaration and the Employer’s declaration. However, they will need to be able to show with their travel documents why they are outside within curfew hours.

Please be aware of the curfew when working on our local projects (such as our harbour towage crew and inland shipping crew). Do not leave your vessel during curfew hours, unless this is necessary for the work. If necessary for the job, please carry the Self-declaration and the Employer’s declaration with you. Please be aware that the above documentation does not replace in any way the other documents that TOS is currently providing to our crew such as travel letters, COVID test results, etc.

The above is not applicable to crew in transfer via Schiphol.
