The North Sea shore from Rockanje to Oostvoorne is clean again! Big garbage bags filled with trash is the proud result of our two TOS colleagues that participated in the Boskalis Beach Cleanup Tour 2019. Colleagues Jade & Antine joined the cleanup tour and started on August, 8th at route Z8 from Rockanje to Oostvoorne with a distance of 9 kilometres. Antine: ‘We collected lots of small pieces of glass, disposable tableware and fishing nets and, of course, enjoyed the sunshine and walking at the beach at the same time’. There were a total of 31 stages along this tour for which everyone could register. During the entire tour, all volunteers collected 10,991 kilos of trash. 4,936 pieces of disposable tableware and straws were picked up. Read here all about the results of the beach cleanup. Would you like to join the cleanup tour next year? Keep an eye on the website for the Boskalis Beach Cleanup Tour.
Let’s keep our beaches clean!
Marine litter (litter in the sea) and plastic debris are a growing environmental problem worldwide. Each year, about 8 million tons of plastic find their way into our oceans. This causes great damage to our oceans and the many animal species that live in them. Since 2013, De Noordzee Foundation organises the Boskalis Beach Cleanup Tour in order to tidy up the entire North Sea coastline.
