After thorough preparation, a special ship delivery project left the homeport of TOS, the Waalhaven in Rotterdam. A German coaster and a Belgian inland pusher were prepared by TOS as Project Cargo. The final destination of the ship delivery is South-America and the voyage will last approximately four weeks. ‘An extraordinary project, which demonstrates our total service package at TOS.’, says Ronald van der Kolk, Division Manager Ship Management at TOS.
Why TOS gets the job done
Van der Kolk: ‘This job combines our services in the field of Ship Management, Ship Delivery and Crewing together and fits us like a glove.’ All nautical and technical preparations were conducted together with the related divisions and the project cargo departed for South-America as planned at the end of December.’ Even for TOS a Project Cargo ship delivery is a challenging job. First of all TOS picked up a coaster for the client in Papenburg (Germany). The TOS crew started up the vessel from dead ship. The coaster had been out of services for half a year. TOS has changed the class through the classification offices, organised the flag-changing of the vessel and took care of the certificates for ISM, ISPS and MLC.
At the same time, the barge pusher was sailed from Antwerp to Rotterdam. The pusher was prepared for transport at the Waalhaven. The windows of the pusher were covered with wood to protect the pusher during transport, a diving inspection took place and ultimately the pusher was placed on the shutters of the coaster.’ The cooperation with suppliers from the immediate area within the Waalhaven also went perfectly well. The communication lines were short and they are above all specialists in their field of work. That is how you promote Rotterdam abroad!’ says Van der Kolk.
TOS wishes the crew a safe journey.
