Company
Our customer is a Dutch shipping company, founded in 2005. They operate heavy-lift vessels, the under Dutch flag with Dutch officers. The head office is based in Rotterdam. We are currently recruiting a Fleet Manager.
Job description
The Fleet Manager is accountable for all safety, technical, nautical and crewing aspects that are related to the operation of the fleet. The Fleet Manager delegates and controls his/her tasks to the Captain Ashore, Technical Superintendent, Purchasing Manager and Crewing Manager. The Fleet Manager assures an efficient and cost-conscious execution of all related tasks. The Fleet Manager reports to the managing director fleet.
Tasks
- Leads the vessel group (Captain Ashore, Technical Superintendent, Purchasing Manager, Crewing Manager)
- Assures continuous availability of vessels
- Monitors the performance of the vessels in all its aspects and initiates proposals for improvements
- Prepares and controls budgets for the vessels in close concert with the managing director fleet Initiates and prepares introduction of computer-based fleet management system(s)
- Plans dry-dockings and regular maintenance periods in concert with the technical superintendent
- Advises the managing director fleet in capital investments
- Follows up on warrantee and insurance claims
- Liaises with classification society and authorities
- Integrates new tonnage into the fleet management
- Academic or Higher Education (in Maritime Studies)
- Ample working experience in the maritime field
- (preferably) seagoing and as fleet manager
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Creative thinker and team player
- Fluent in English and (preferably) Dutch (both verbally and in writing)
- Sound communicator
- Computer literate
- Hands-on attitude and willingness to travel abroad
- Enthusiastic, eager and prepared to live up to the customers high standards
