New Vessel from Bergen Group Handed Over to Volstad

On Friday February 26th, Volstad Maritime AS was delivered BN 82 from Bergen Group Fosen. The ship is an advanced offshore seismic vessel to be operated by the Fugro-Geoteam. Volstad is getting a state-of-the-art ship. The ship contains the latest and most advanced equipment that the international market can provide in this segment" says CEO Arnar Utseth at Bergen Group Fosen. The hull of the boat was built at Bergen Group Landskrona in Sweden and arrived Fosen in August 2009 for outfitting and commissioning.

The vessel, which was submitted to the shipping company Volstad Maritime AS on Friday February 26th is 108 meters long, 24 meters wide and has a gross tonnage of 13,000 tons. Modern diesel-electric engines from Wärtsilä provide a cruising speed of 16.5 knots.  The ship is built and prepared for advanced seismic operations, and have equipment that makes it possible to operate under very demanding conditions. The vessel has integrated the helicopter deck, four deck cranes and a cabin capacity of 72 persons.

The ship will now go from Fosen to the Netherlands to be equipped and prepared for seismic operations under the chart of Fugro-Geoteam. The baptism of the ship will take place in Stavanger on Friday 19 March.
Bergen Group Fosen are now preparing for the next hull to be fitted at the shipyard. It is an advanced 3 DP construction vessel being built for the shipping company Solstad Offshore ASA. The building of the hull is in these days finished up in Poland, and the hull is expected to arrive Fosen in the middle of March.
